What Happens When?

Year 9

Pupils are invited to ACE days within their school.

Year 10
As a school group pupils are invited to visit a local university.

Year 11
After GCSEs many students have the opportunities to attend university for a taster week.

Year 12
Students research courses and places to study that suit their interest and abilities. The Coursefinder questionnaire helps in this. Students are encouraged to visit universities on Open Days. Personal statements are prepared.

Year 13
Personal statements are completed and UCAS applications filled in. The choices of course and university are made.

• By 15 October apply to Cambridge, Oxford and for medicine in any university
  
• From 1 Sept - 15 Jan all other applications (exc. Art and Design Route B)
  
• From 1 Jan - 24 March Art and Design Route B
  
• Jan - May universities will either make an offer based on points or grades, interview then decide or reject the application.
  
• May - Students decide on two final offers, their first and second choice, which are called 'firm' and 'insurance'.
  
• August - A level/GNVQ Advanced results/AVCE released and places are confirmed.
  
• Clearing starts
